Brant OPP have charged two London residents after investigating a report of stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning.

The stolen vehicle was being tracked by GPS (Global Positioning System) and was traveling through Brant County, a Brant OPP spokesperson said.

Officers were provided with updates with respect to the vehicle’s location and traced it to Cockshutt Road when it fled the area, police said.

A passerby later reported the vehicle at Brant Road.

Officers located the vehicle a second time and were able to take one person into custody. The second suspect was later located sleeping in a nearby residence after the homeowner arrived home, police said.

A 29-year-old London resident has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and trespassing at night.

A second 29-year-old London resident has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, break, enter and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.

The investigation is continuing and further charges are expected, police said.
