Two drivers were nabbed for stunt driving within 20 minutes of each other by Brant OPP on Monday evening.
An officer conducting speed enforcement on Brant-Oxford Road in the County of Brant at 9:53 pm clocked a vehicle traveling more than 130 km-h in a posted 80 km-h zone.
A 22-year-old driver from the County of Brant faces charges of drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed and speeding in excess of 50 km-h over the speed limit.
At about 10:10 pm another officer stopped a vehicle traveling more than 160 km-h in a posted 100 km-h zone.
A 23-year-old Ottawa driver is charged with drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed; speeding in excess of 50 km-h over the speed limit and fail to have insurance card.
Both vehicles were impounded for 14 days, and the drivers’ licenses suspended for 30 days.
Driver faces impaired charges
A 24-year-old Brant County man who failed to stop at a stop sign is facing several charges.
A Brant OPP officer on patrol in the north end of Paris observed the traffic violation at about 12:10 am on Sunday, Nov. 20.
The vehicle was stopped on Magnolia Drive in Paris, at which time the officer suspected the driver to be intoxicated. The driver was transported to the Norfolk County OPP detachment for testing.
The driver is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), disobey stop sign – fail to stop, driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, and drive motor vehicle – no licence.
Collision leads to charges
A 39-year-old Kitchener driver faces impaired driving charges following a head-on collision.
Brant OPP say two vehicles traveling in opposite directions on Highway 54 near Painter Road in Brant County collided head-on at about 9:35 am Sunday, Nov. 20.
Minor injuries were reported, and one driver, suspected of being intoxicated, was taken to the Brant County OPP detachment for testing.
The accused is charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
