Brant County Mayor David Bailey was paid $106,816.25 in 2021.
According to the council remuneration report, Bailey received an honorarium of $92,456.38, plus $11,077.83 in benefits and $3,382.04 in expenses. The report was presented to councilors at the March 15 administration and operations committee meeting.

John Wheat: $32,645.45 honorarium, $2,399.14 benefits, zero expenses.
John MacAlpine: $32,645.45 honorarium, $8,302.88 benefits, $308.96 expenses.
Ward 2
Marc Laferriere: $32,645.45 honorarium, $8,302.88 benefits, $3,661.97 expenses.
Steve Howes: $32,645.45 honorarium, $8,302.88 benefits, $176.54 expenses.
Ward 3
John Peirce: $32,645.45 honorarium, $8,302.88 benefits, $216.07 expenses.
John Bell: $32,645.45 honorarium, $8,302.88 benefits, $174.60 expenses.
Ward 4
Robert Chambers: $34,045.45 honorarium, $1,974.31 benefits, $494.28 expenses.
David Miller: $36,145.49 honorarium, $8,302.88 benefits, $180.74 expenses.
Ward 5
Brian Coleman: $34,427.96 honorarium, $2,399.14 benefits, $178.58 expenses.
Joan Gatward: $34,335.49 honorarium, $6,713.52 benefits, $348.89 expenses.
Laferriere said his expenses are higher than other councilors because he participated in numerous online training sessions. The expenses claimed in 2021 are in line with previous years, he said.
Combined, the mayor and 10 councilors were paid $510,687.36 last year.
Expenses claimed by councilors include mileage and attendance at conferences and training. As well, the report includes remuneration to councilors who serve on the Long Point Region Conservation Authority, SWIFT (Southwestern Integrated Fiber Technology) and the Grand River Conservation Authority.
Bailey’s expenses include a car allowance.
