brand new gameplay that features a new game boss

Last September, Koei Tecmo released a Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty demo that ended with a boss fight. At the time, we had no hesitation in calling the game Nioh 3 in disguise as certain similarities were obvious. Recently, our colleagues at GameSpot had the opportunity to approach a new trial version of Souls-like Team Ninja, and what we discover reinforces our first impression. For example, we think of the possibility of summoning spirits, which obviously has an impact on the stats and properties of the attacks. On the other hand, as we had already pointed out, the absence of a stamina gauge makes Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty more nervous than its illustrious predecessor.

The other thing to remember from this demo is that the developers seem to have made some changes following player feedback. Thus, the counter window seems to have been raised, which could facilitate the maneuver. Our character would no longer take ten plumbs to drink a sip of potion to heal his vital bar, whereas in the demo, the animation was incredibly slow. In short, Team Ninja did not lie to the community when they told them that they would take their remarks into account. Finally, this new preview is an opportunity to get acquainted with another rather pissed off boss.

If Elden Ring is considered by many purists as the new benchmark in Souls-like (it is also expected to be the GOTY 2022), the developers have absolutely no intention of imitating From Software. We’ve played it, and we think Elden Ring is a great seamless open-world experience. But when it comes to Wo Long, that’s not what we’re looking forhad supported the director Fumihiko Yasuda in October. In fact, we try to focus on what we think we do best in Team Ninja first and foremost, which is mission-based games where the intensity keeps you going. That’s what we’re focusing on, which is the opposite of areas that unfold to form a single map.

The release of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is set for March 3 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC.
