A bus carrying Pakistanis overturned on the Dekhshir-Teft highway in Yazd province, Iranian state television reported.
As a result of the bus overturning, 28 Pakistanis lost their lives and 23 people were injured, 14 of them seriously.
BRAKE FAILURE
Colonel Haji Dehabadi, the head of the Highway Police of Yazd province, said that according to the initial investigation of experts, the accident was caused by a malfunction in the vehicle’s brake system.
It was reported that 51 Pakistanis on the bus had entered Iran to attend the Arbaeen ceremonies in the Iraqi city of Karbala.

According to Islamic belief, the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussein, the grandson of Hazrat Muhammad, and his companions in the city of Karbala on October 10, 680 (Muharram 10, 61 AH) is commemorated every year on the “Day of Ashura.” The commemoration ceremonies held 40 days after Ashura are called “Erbaein” (Fortieth Day) ceremonies. This year’s Erbaein events will be held on August 25.
