Bradley Barcola an exemplary education who is the young nugget

Bradley Barcola is present for the first time with the Blues for Euro 2024. Focus on the one who could do well in the competition.

At 21, Bradley Barcola is the last one called up by the coach Didier Deschamps in the group of the French team which is participating in the Euro in Germany. However, we know the coach is rather cautious about the idea of integrating new players, especially in the run-up to major competitions. But the Paris Saint-Germain striker, who arrived from Lyon last season, has proven himself and show Deschamps that he could claim a place in the group.

After a more withdrawn first part of the season, Bradley Barcola established himself as a starter in attack for the French champions, proving decisive, both in the championship and in the Champions League. To the point of convincing Didier Deschamps to give him a chance. The question had already been asked during the gathering in March, but it was ultimately for this Euro that Bradley Barcola joined the blue group. And if he does not seem to be promised a lot of playing time in a sector where competition is tough, he could be one of the revelations of the competition. This is what his teammate recalled Kylian Mbappé at a press conference. “He arrives with the status of the little one who arrives, but I have played a lot of competitions now, and I know that the team which starts is rarely the one which finishes. Be ready Bradley! Who knows?”Bradley Barcola will therefore experiencing his first international competition with this Euro, and he could make sparks.

An OL enthusiast

Before appearing at Paris Saint-Germain this season, Bradley Barcola played in the youth teams of Olympique Lyonnais between 2010 and 2021. Mehdi Ghazel, responsible for the club’s U7-U8 category, remembers his beginnings and his family for the Parisian. “It was a family of enthusiasts. The parents were present but did not interfere. We never had any problem with Bradley, a kid who never balked at anything.” Amaury Barlet, his coach at OL in U12 and U13, also has the same opinion. “He had an exemplary education and he was very pleasant to supervise on a daily basis. Above all, I remember a boy who was totally passionate about OL

Bradley Barcola was educated at Château-Gaillard primary school in Villeurbanne then at Les Chassagnes college in Oullins, and was never talked about in the disciplinary department, a model young man. On a sporting level, it was therefore in Lyon that he signed his first professional contract and made his debut in 2021 and until the summer of 2023. In 47 matches under the Lyon colors, Barcola established himself as holder, and it was for 45 million euros that PSG snatched him from OL at the very end of the transfer window last summer.
