Brad Pitt on his most traumatic train journey

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

In Bullet Train, which hits theaters August 4, 2022, equals meet several assassins with different missions on a Japanese bullet train. Also present: the compulsively positive mercenary Ladybug (Brad Pitt) and the at first sight almost psychotically sweet Prince (Joey King).

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch directs the whole thing as action blockbuster that is as funny as it is exciting, whose cast seems to be having at least as much fun as the audience (check out the full Bullet Train cast here). As Deutsche Bahn customers know, some train journeys are more like a psychological thriller. An experience that Brad Pitt and Joey King also had to make privately.

Brad Pitt almost got lost on a train ride – because of a failed love

“I once flew to Europe to visit my girlfriend at the time”says Brad Pitt in an interview with Moviepilot. “Unfortunately, that went totally wrong.” Instead of romantic time for two, the actor had to come up with something different for his time in Europe. And decided on the main train station in Budapest.

I wanted to go to Serbia and then see a bit of France. I slept in the train station and someone helped me get on the right train. I was in the back of the train. When it kept stopping at some point, I walked through to the front to ask someone what was going on.

Brad Pitt probably didn’t know it at that moment, but that very decision saved him from stuck somewhere in Europe. Because he quickly found out why the train was moving so strangely:

Meanwhile, the complete rear part of the train was uncoupled. So you would have just left meif I hadn’t run forward.

Living in constant uncertainty as to whether the part of the train you are on will actually arrive at your destination should sound familiar to anyone who has heard the words “Train division in Hamm” heard over a noisy train loudspeaker. Even if Deutsche Bahn does not appear to have been involved in this case.

Joey King and Brad Pitt in an interview with Moviepilot

Another seemingly elementary part of the German long-distance experience Spontaneously changing platforms, changed car sequences and no seat reservations. Which makes it an adventure every time, whether you will manage to be in the right place on the right train at the right time.

Joey King knows that thrill. She was sitting on an actual bullet train, doing the route her character travels in the film, when suddenly someone appeared next to her seat:

A cute elderly Japanese lady came to me. Neither of us spoke the language of the other, but somehow she tried to make me understand that I was sitting in her seat. I gave her my ticket and said, ‘No, that’s fine, that’s my seat!’ But at some point I understood what she wanted to tell me. I was in the right seat, but on the wrong train.

The Kissing Booth actress says she has the same “several traumatic train experiences”, seems to be primarily to blame for her story. When Brad Pitt grins and throws in that Americans just weren’t that drivenKing counters with a motto that we can pray to ourselves like a mantra in the event of future train delays:

Travel is meant to go wrong. If you can’t handle it, you’re traveling for the wrong reasons.More watch recommendations in Podcast: The 10 Best Streaming Movies of 2022
