Police and social services miss many children and young people who are exploited in the sex trade, according to a new report from the Crime Prevention Council (Brå). This is reported by Ekot in Sveriges Radio.
Lina Fjelkegård, project manager at Brå, says that you can’t count on vulnerable children telling themselves. Therefore, more comprehensive preventive and outreach work is needed, according to Brå.
A particular method used to find crime victims in this group is only used in two of the country’s seven police regions. According to the police, this is because the method is resource-intensive.
