BPER Banca adheres to the “EMMA” initiative against computer fraud

(Tiper Stock Exchange) – BPER Bank promotes the EMMA – European Money Mule Action initiative again this yearthe cyber security campaign activated and coordinated by Europol and the EBF – European Banking Federation for fight against money laundering of money through the so-called Money Muling.

A Money Mulesin Italian “money mule”, is one person who transfers money between two parties, digitally or in cash, obtaining a commission. It is a way of transfer money for illegal purposes using a totally unsuspecting person as a mule.

There European Money Mule Action is a public-private initiative for fight the Money Mule networks who benefit from various forms of crime, mainly from computer fraud against financial institutions and its customers. The initiative sees BPER Banca at the forefront together with CERTFin – CERT Finanziario Italianopartner of the initiative for Italy, with the main objective of countering Money Muling through a coordinated operational action of the police forces in several jurisdictions within the EU, followed by a prevention and awareness campaign in the scope of the common hashtag #DontBeaMule.

Davide Belloni, Head of the Cybersecurity & Fraud Management – Bsecurity Office of BPER Banca, stated “joining such important initiatives allows us to contribute to raising awareness on an essential issue which is that of information security, with the aim of increasing the level to raise awareness of customers on the possible dangers of fraud and to make them aware of the safe use of digital channels and tools”.
