Boy was shot – now he himself is being judged

A 17-year-old boy was shot while walking his dog in Västerås.
Now he himself is sentenced for serious weapons offense – because he had a gun with him during the walk.
– I have a threatening image, he says.

The teenager, who was 17 at the time, went for a dog walk in Västerås at around 11.30pm on 7 May.

Barely 30 seconds after he left the gate, a moped with two people appeared.

– I only hear bang bang from different directions. I don’t hear exactly where it’s from and I didn’t see anything. Then I fell, says the 17-year-old in questioning.

The perpetrators on the moped had opened fire and hit him with a shot in the leg. The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Wanted to defend myself”

No one has yet been prosecuted on suspicion of shooting the teenager.

However, the shot himself was put on trial – after the police found a gun at the gate where he was lying injured.

When the investigators went through surveillance cameras, they could see that the teenager, after he fell to the ground, himself fired shots at the moped men. TV4 News can now show the films.

The 17-year-old was convicted earlier this week of serious weapons offenses for possession of the gun. The punishment was one year of closed youth care.

In questioning and during the trial, he has said that he was armed in order to defend himself. He had “become aware of a threat” against him but did not know who “wanted him
badly”.
