Boy kidnapped in Uppsala for five days – allegedly humiliated and beaten

The boy is said to have been kidnapped on June 29, which UNT was first reported on, then released five days later.

During those days, a female suspect had been arrested and after the release, five more people were wanted and arrested. Now all six are in custody on suspicion of kidnapping. Five of them are also suspected of attempted serious blackmail and three of them of serious assault.

– The plaintiff has not received any life-threatening injuries, but based on the circumstances surrounding the assault and the fact that it took place in degrading forms, it must be considered serious, says prosecutor Andreas Nyberg.

There are more people involved

The prosecutor does not want to comment on whether the suspects, who all deny any crime, came across anything of value.

– It is part of the investigation. We are convinced that several people are involved, therefore I cannot give too much information at this stage, he says.

Several of the suspects are already known to the justice system and the police are now investigating connections to the gang criminal environment – and similar cases.

– We investigate broadly whether cases may have connections to each other, says Andreas Nyberg.

Another kidnapping

Three more people are in custody, despite their denials, suspected of another kidnapping in Uppsala. There are two victims involved, a man who was kidnapped at the end of May and a man who was forced to pay a ransom.

Prosecutor Karolina Lindekrantz does not want to comment on how much money is involved.

– From what I can see now, there are no connections to the investigation about the boy, and the people who are in custody in my case were arrested before the second kidnapping, she says.

However, the prosecutor cannot rule out connections through possible clients.

– It could be that there could be different executors in the cases but the same instigator, I have no idea about that. I only have a preliminary investigation against the perpetrators, she says.
