Last Wednesday at 08:30 a shooting occurred inside a school in Trångsund, south of Stockholm. A high school student was shot and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance and another student was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and weapons offences.
Yesterday, the prosecutor requested a person be detained on suspicion of attempted murder at a school in Trångsund on Wednesday, the prosecutor’s office announces.
– I have assessed that there are currently exceptional reasons for detention despite the suspect’s young age, says senior prosecutor Kajsa Lindberg, head of the preliminary investigation in a press release.
The boy was arrested today. The detention hearing was held behind closed doors in the Stockholm district court on Saturday afternoon.
Charges must be filed by September 18 at the latest.
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the shooting took place in the school toilet and the weapon is said to be sharp. The police state that the shooting must have occurred in a restricted area and that no one else must have been in the vicinity of the two students.
The suspect denies the criminal charges.
