A bear attacked a hunter in Ljusdal on Monday. Then his son hit the bear in the head so hard that the wrist was broken.
– The bear probably switched victims so that the father had time to fire a shot at the bear, so that it died, says hunting leader Jonny Sjöblom to TT.
The man and his teenage son were participating in the bear hunt in Ljusdal municipality on Monday morning when they were suddenly attacked by a bear.
During the attack, the bear must have been lying on top of the man, after which the son went forward and punched the bear in the head, says hunting leader Jonny Sjöblom .

Was seriously injured in the face
The man was seriously injured in the face and had to be taken to the emergency department at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå, where he is still being treated in the intensive care unit. His injuries should not be life-threatening. In the helicopter on the way to the hospital, the man called the municipality’s hunting team and asked them to take care of the dead bear.
The son’s wrist was probably broken, according to Sjöblom, and the boy was taken to hospital for surgery in Uppsala.
Bears can appear suddenly and come very close before you have time to shoot, according to Jonny Sjöblom.
– It is very difficult to avert a danger in this way. Predators are individuals and it depends entirely on a case-by-case basis, he notes.
