A boy has died following a playground accident on Thursday last week, his next of kin have been informed.
The incident occurred at a preschool in Umeå and the boy was cared for in the intensive care unit, but his life could not be saved.
On Thursday afternoon, the police received information that a boy under the age of seven had injured himself in a school yard in Umeå. He was treated in the intensive care unit at Norrland University Hospital for life-threatening injuries, on Monday the news came that he had died.
The police opened a preliminary investigation which was initially classified as causing bodily harm, but then changed to causing the death of another. There are currently no suspects and the case is now being handled by prosecutors.
A technical investigation has also been carried out at the accident site.
