A 16-year-old boy is charged at Södertörn district court for the murder of a 15-year-old boy in Älvsjö in southern Stockholm this summer.

“The investigation has shown that the defendant took a serrated barbecue knife to the plaintiff’s staircase and there dealt out a large number of stabs, including to the plaintiff’s torso, head and neck. The plaintiff died at the scene. The defendant denies the crime and claims emergency protection,” says senior prosecutor Ingrid Viklund in a press release.

It was on the afternoon of June 8 that the 15-year-old was found at the gate of the apartment building where he lived. A few hours later, the police announced that the boy who has now been charged had been arrested.

The prosecutor has previously confirmed that the two boys were familiar with each other.

The detention of the accused 16-year-old was lifted in September pending charges. This with reference to the fact that a person under the age of 18 should not be detained for longer than three months unless there are exceptional reasons.

The boy was taken into care instead according to LVU.
