  • Boy and man found dead

    A 12-year-old boy and his 29-year-old bonus father were found dead in the Piteälven on Sunday evening after a swim.

    In the morning, the two went down to the river at a campsite in Älvsbyn. They were reported missing shortly afterwards.

    – The current took them. There can be quite strong currents from time to time and there has been a lot of water now, says Mathias Borin, commander at the police’s regional command center, to TT.

    The boy and the man were natives of the area. They were found after a helicopter, divers and volunteers participated in the search.

    – One was found at 6pm and one at 10pm, says Mathias Borin.

    Relatives have been notified of the deaths, the police say.

  • Gas leak alarm – great effort

    Police, emergency services and an ambulance went out at midnight to an apartment building in Solna after an alarm about a dangerous spill.

    – You have smelled gas in the house. We have instruments that may have yielded results, but it is not 100% confirmed yet, says Kim Hellberg, management operator at the rescue center.

    There are no reports of injuries or evacuation.

  • Teenage girl to hospital after drowning incident

    A teenage girl was reported missing in the water at 8 p.m. in a suspected drowning incident in Munkedal.

    – There is a person missing near the water, said Nathalie Stridsberg at SOS Alarm to the newspaper Bohuslänningen.

    Later, the rescue service announced that the girl had been taken out of the water.

    – She was conscious and has been taken to hospital by ambulance, says Simon Willner, duty officer at the rescue service, to the newspaper.

    The extent of the damage is unclear.

  • Lightning has struck a family in Germany

    Lightning has struck a tree in Delmenhorst in Germany, reports Focus.

    The family, of six people, who were sitting under the tree have been injured.

    Two of them have life-threatening injuries and were revived in the park.

    All have been taken to hospital.

  • Man dies in drowning accident

    An elderly man has died in a drowning accident in Lerum, reports Lerums Tidning.

    The accident occurred in Häcksjön.

    Relatives have been notified.

  • Police car in collision – four involved

    A police car and a passenger car have collided in Sandviken.

    – They were on their way to an alarm about a dead person and overtook a number of cars in a long queue. It was a car that didn’t pay attention to the police car and made a left turn so the police car ran into it in the front, says police RLC officer Per Bjurström.

    Four people are involved in the accident. All have managed without injuries.

    Photos show how the wheels of the police car have come off and are several meters away.

    – The police car looks quite ugly now, it has quite a lot of damage, but it has gone well with the constables.

    A person has been taken into custody by security guards after photographing a protected object on Ekerö, reports TV4.

    The police are now on their way to the scene.

    – It is quite common that tourists do not know what they are taking photos of, although I cannot confirm that it is a tourist who has taken photos yet, says police officer on duty Carina Andersson to TV4.

  • Quad bike accident – two seriously injured

    Two men have been taken to hospital after a quad bike accident in Grästorp in Västra Götaland, reports Nya Lidköpings-Tidningen.

    According to the police, three people must have traveled on the four-wheeler before it overturned.

    The injured men were picked up by ambulance helicopter.

    – The damage situation is initially assessed to be serious, says police spokesperson Anna Hammarbäck to the newspaper.

  • Fight after traffic accident

    A passenger car and a motorcyclist have collided in Vällingby in Stockholm.

    Then a fight broke out.

    – You became a bit of an enemy there and started fighting. We have a report of assault and a counter-report, so there are two suspects, says the police officer on duty Carina Andersson.

    No one is said to have been seriously injured.

    – The MC driver had to go to hospital for a check-up, but it does not appear to be serious. It wasn’t worse than he could fight anyway.

    He becomes the fifth senator to demand that Joe Biden not run as the Democratic presidential candidate. Manchin is an independent but is usually described as a “right-leaning Democrat”.

  • Risk of polio in Gaza – soldiers are vaccinated

    The Israeli military, the IDF, is to vaccinate its soldiers against polio.

    This is because high concentrations of the highly contagious virus have been found in the sewage system in Gaza, TT writes.

    Gaza’s health care has deteriorated sharply since the Israeli bombings between Hamas and Israel began.

    The World Health Organization WHO assesses that the risk of contracting polio is high.

    The findings of the virus are “extremely worrying”, according to the WHO, which believes many more diseases are spreading “out of control” in Gaza.

  • Russia: Two Ukrainian villages captured

    The Russian Ministry of Defense states that two villages along the front line in Ukraine have been captured. It concerns the village of Andrijivka in the Luhansk region and Pishtjane in the Kharkiv region.

    The two villages are less than two miles apart in a part of the front line where Russia has made slow progress in recent weeks.

    Andrijivka, a village of fewer than 20 residents, was one of the last villages in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine still controlled by Kiev, and has been a key target for Moscow. Russia says it has captured a string of villages, many of them consisting of only a few streets and abandoned buildings, in recent weeks.

  • Alarm about drowning in Lerum

    Emergency services, police and ambulance have been alerted to a lake in Lerum due to a suspected drowning.

    – We have been there and pulled a person out of the water, says Björn Wänström, alarm and line operator at the rescue service, to GP.

    – We are on the scene and assisting the rescue service in an operation, says Anna Hammarbäck at the police.

    At 19:00 Lerums Tidning reported that the person, who was an elderly man, has passed away.

    Relatives have been notified.

  • Motorhomes and caravan crew in collision

    Two mobile homes and a passenger car with a caravan on a trailer have collided in Motala municipality.

    No one is said to be injured, but the vehicles involved are said to be unsafe for traffic.

    The accident occurred at 12.50 on national highway 34 at the Ljung traffic stop, reports the Östra Götaland rescue service.

    During the cleanup work, the road is closed in both directions. Traffic is expected to flow shortly before 2 p.m.
