Boxing: 17-year-old Adam went from beginner to Swedish champion in five years – wants to be the best in the world

Adam Belalia decided early on to become the world’s best boxer. This without having boxed a single day in his life.

Self-confidence was great and at first everything went as it should for the 17-year-old.

Five years later, in 2020, Adam became Swedish champion as an amateur. Everything looked bright – but then a conflict arose with the club, Djurgården.

Was accused of assault

A man in the club’s selection committee was beaten and Adam and his brother Adel were accused. The police investigated the assault, but dropped the investigation due to lack of evidence.

Despite this, the brothers were excluded from Djurgården boxing.

– After Djurgården excluded me and Adel, no other club wants to receive us. Djurgården had threatened other clubs to break cooperation with them if they accepted us. I was also not selected for the national team, even though I was the reigning Swedish champion, says Adam in the documentary.

Without a club, no competitions

– Without a club, I couldn’t compete, I had nowhere to train and had to train outside in a blizzard and freezing temperatures. I had two choices; either stop, or take matters into your own hands.

1.5 years passed and Adam is still without a club. He has not played a match since the SM gold was secured. Without a club, a professional career is the only hope for Adam.
