Just over a year ago, Arla sued the new owner of the dairy in Boxholm for trademark infringement. The happy farmer, for his part, responded with a reciprocation. Today, Thursday, the verdict in the case is handed down in the Patent and Market Court.
The happy farmer marketed his cheese as Äkta Boxholms. Arla owns the Boxholm cheese brand and claims that it is protected. The happy farmer, however, believes that they must be allowed to include the name of the place on the products because the cheese is made in Boxholm.
It was at the end of last year that the Svea Court of Appeal granted leave to appeal to the dairy. For the time being, the new cheeses may not be called Boxholm cheese.
