Bottled water is being offered free to vulnerable residents amid a Wheatley- and Tilbury-area boil water advisory, officials say.
The advisory, issued after a Sept. 13 fire shut down Wheatley’s water treatment plant, remains in effect until an interim treatment solution is found.
Officials say plant repairs could take a year or more.
CK Public Health and the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission are working with Chatham-Kent Economic Development to give vulnerable people free access to bottled water, if needed. Bottles have been distributed to the Wheatley Resource Center and Tilbury Food Bank.
The advisory says water is safe to consume after bringing it to a rolling boil for one minute..
