Bothwell man facing assault, uttering threat charges

Police make warrant arrests

A 42-year-old Bothwell man is facing charges in connection to a domestic dispute in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police responded to the incident at a Wellington Street residence on Saturday and learned through investigation an argument had taken place between the man and a woman.

Police said the accused allegedly threatened to harm the woman and pushed her.

A family member witnessed the altercation attempted to intervene and was also allegedly threatened and assaulted, police said.

The confrontation moved outside where the accused allegedly continued to assault the family member by spitting at and shoving the person, police said.

The accused left prior to police arriving, but went to police headquarters Monday morning to turn himself in. He was charged with two counts of uttering threats and four counts of assault.

He was held pending a bail hearing, police said.

Tractor stolen

Chatham-Kent police are seeking the public’s assistance in a theft investigation involving a red model 253 Massey Ferguson tractor.

Police said the tractor was stolen from a field adjacent to Zone Road 7 in Bothwell.

The tractor has a front-end loader and a metal hook welded to the middle of the bucket, police said.
