A 37-year-old Bothwell man is accused of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer in connection to a disturbance in Blenheim late Wednesday night.

A 37-year-old Bothwell man is accused of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer after a reported disturbance in Blenheim late Wednesday night.

Chatham-Kent officers were called to an apartment building on Talbot Street West just before 11:30 pm about a man banging on doors and allegedly trying to enter apartments.

Police allege the accused had trespassed in the building several times.

The accused was reportedly found hiding in the closet of a stranger’s apartment, police said.

The man allegedly became violence when officers tried to remove him, reportedly striking one officer with a closed fist and pushing another officer, police said.

The accused was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and failing to leave the premise when directed. He was taken to police headquarters to await a bail hearing.

Wallaceburg woman facing assault charge

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman is facing an assault charge in connection to a Sunday dispute.

Chatham-Kent police said the accused and a man were arguing before the woman allegedly struck the man in the face.

The accused was located, arrested and charged with assault, police said. She was later released with a July 13 short date.
