In the United States, a new president has emerged Joe Biden of sensitive documents found in the former office.

NBC News (switch to another service) reported on Wednesday evening Finnish time that Biden’s assistants have found more documents classified as secret – this time in a different place than where the previous documents were found.

Previously classified documents were found in Washington by Biden’s lawyers. They were clearing out the president’s former office in November. Biden used the office while serving as an honorary doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2019. The lawyers had immediately reported the discovery to the US National Archives.

There are ten documents from 2013-2016. They are from Biden’s vice presidency. Biden served as president Barack Obama’s as vice president.

President Biden says the findings came as a surprise.

NBC News says in its recent story that after Biden’s lawyers made a document discovery in Washington in November, Biden’s assistants began to find out if more could be found in other places. It is not known where the new documents were found.

The White House has not commented on the matter.

Jurist: Considerable differences

The documents classified as sensitive were found in November, but they were only made public now. According to the Republicans, the situation is unfair, because the former president Donald Trump even faces criminal charges because of the documents found in his home. The criminal investigation is ongoing.

The White House has assured that it will cooperate with the Ministry of Justice and the National Archives to investigate the matter.

According to US law, the vice president must turn over official documents at the end of his term.

Jurist Greg Sofer of the Husch-Blackwell law firm says there are significant differences in the presidents’ cases.

– On a general level: the more secret a document is classified, the greater the potential damage to the United States. There is a big difference, whether the material is voluntarily handed over to the representatives of the administration or whether the representatives have to go and dig up the material themselves.

According to the CNN media company, a few of Biden’s ten documents are classified as “top secret”. The extent of Trump’s material is 325 pages, of which 60 pages belonged to the same security category.
