Sweden has three straight big wins in the hockey World Cup.
But Per Svartvadet wants to see more.
– Both players and managers probably know about that, says Radiosport’s expert.
Sweden has a super team in this year’s WC, and it is especially the back side that impresses. So far, they have held on to the favourites. Erik Karlsson, Viktor Hedman, Rasmus Dahlin, Adrian Kempe and the other NHL stars have led Sweden to three straight, clear wins in the WC, and now the group victory is close.
Unexpected criticism
After wins of 5-2 against the USA, and 5-1 against Poland, Germany was crushed on Monday night. Sweden won 6-1 and was highly praised by, among others, Peter Forsberg yesterday, who said that Sweden was “completely superior”. But not everyone was floored by the effort.
Radiosport’s expert Per Svartvadet is certainly impressed by what Sweden has shown, but that more will be needed when the playoffs begin.
– Can you say anything other than when you have won big in three games? It is clear that you can ask for more in the game and in different situations, but when you win the matches in the way you do, it is clear that you impress. But more is required in a quarter-final, both leaders and players probably know that, he says in Radiosporten.
The contenders for the WC gold
Svartvadet also highlights who he believes will be able to challenge Tre Kronor for the WC gold.
– The USA in the first match, they will go far. Canada, Finland and the Czech Republic at home are always good. Then we know from experience, when Switzerland gets most of the players from North America to its team, it is a dangerous team, which can definitely challenge, he says.
Sweden were satisfied with the effort yesterday and there were many players who pointed out that they deliberately increased the pace against Germany, who on paper is a better opponent than Poland. Next for Tre Kronor awaits, on Thursday, Kazakhstan. Sweden will also face Latvia, France and Slovakia before the group stage is complete.
