Bosses talk about Season 1 – promises you won’t have to grind as much as feared

On June 16th, Diablo 4 bosses discussed players’ biggest concerns post-release at the first Campfire Chat. There was some information about Season 1 and how the game will continue. You can find the most important information from the stream here.

What happens in Season 1? We already knew beforehand that Season 1 will bring new content and that the seasons should last 3 months. You can find the general overview in our information about Season 1 of Diablo 4.

In the community, however, there was great concern that the long grind for reputation would have to be done again. Renown gives you important skill and paragon points, but it takes many hours to farm all of the reputation.

Now there’s some new info on things you can keep in Seasons and on alternate characters:

  • Altars of Lilith remain with you
  • the map is also uncovered in Seasons as far as you have uncovered it on your “Main” in the eternal realm
  • Fast travel points to capitals remain, all others are visible, but you have to activate them first (which gives renown)
  • all renown rewards, such as Paragon and Skill Points, or additional potion charges, remain
  • Game Director Joe Shely explains that part of the reputation of exploration and the like carries over to season characters. However, he did not explain exactly what that would look like. Quests should reset completely so you can do them again

When does Season 1 start? There is still no specific date, only that the season should start between mid and late July. Before that there will be a big patch that should change a lot of things. According to community head Adam Fletcher, the patch notes are now 13 pages long.

We will learn more about Season 1 in the next dev stream, which is scheduled to take place in early July.

Your Inventory Should Be Limited – What About Gems?

According to the community, another big problem was that gems clogged up the inventory. There have been requests for a special tab in the inventory dedicated only to collecting gems.

This will remain so until about Season 2. From then on, according to Joe Shely, gems are collected in your material storage in the inventory. You can then produce “higher” gems as usual and then use them.

The fact that the inventory should be managed in general and not be infinitely large is definitely intended. So you have to prioritize when you can continue farming and when you have to go back to town.

You can watch the entire stream on YouTube at any time. There will be another dev stream in July. Unlike the Campfire Chat, the Dev Streams are also used to talk about big announcements – like expansions that are also planned for the future.
