Due to the various seasons, many ARPG fans often switch between Path of Exile 2, Diablo 4 and Last Epoch. The boss of POE2 spoke to Meinmmo about the future of the genre and says exactly what everyone wants to hear.
What does the boss do in? In an interview with Meinmmo, the Game Director of Path of Exile 2, Jonathan Rogers, spoke about the future of Path of Exile 2 and its predecessor. Especially what happens after the Early Access development of POE2 is interesting.
The POE2 boss told us that after POE2 leaves the early access, the seasons of part 1 and part 2 should always appear alternately. In an interview with PC Gamer, Rogers also said:
As long as people are ready to play our game for a month four times a year, that’s okay for me.
Accordingly, it can be assumed that a new season appears in part of Path of Exile about once a quarter, always alternating.
The conversation took place as part of the presentation of the new Season Dawn of the Hunt, which starts on April 4th. Here you can see the trailer:

Good sign for ARPG fans
What should the future of the genre look like? The ARPG genre is currently largely divided into Path of Exile 1 and 2, Diablo 4 and Last Epoch. Especially between Last Epoch and POE2 there was trouble after both ARPGs had put their new Seasons on a similar appointment.
Why did the players want to hear that? With the announcement of the boss of Path of Exile 2, this should no longer happen in the future. Because the POE2 makers always plan the release periods in the approximate 3-month change, Last Epoch and Diablo 4 can put their season starts in the gaps.
This is a long-awaited wish of the ARPG fans who liked to switch between the seasons back and forth and finally react bitterly when the Seasons from Last Epoch and Path of Exile collided.
The boss of Path of Exile 2 also seems to share the idea of playing the game. In an interview with PC Gamer, he says:
There is space for many different players in this genre. It doesn’t have to be that you only have a game that dominates everyone else.
(…)
Arpgs are one of the genre, in which the player community accepted the idea of the season in which you play the game for a while, then stops, play something else and then come back and the next season plays back
This is a good sign for the fans, because they have long hoped that the developers of the big ARPGs coordinate their content launches so that there are new content.
The developers of Path of Exile 2 seem to be the green light for alternating Seasons, now it remains to be seen whether other genre representatives are going.
