You want fixed update cycles for both games
What does Jonathan Rogers say about the development of updates? In a new interview on YouTube, Jonathan Rogers spoke to Talkative Tri about the updates for the two Path of Exiles and how to do it in the future.
Rogers explains how to approach updates in the past right from the start. You had a fixed deadline, but no solid features. This was done because, according to him, no deadline and features can be determined at the same time. So they decided to always set the deadlines.
During Path of Exile 2 that changed. They concentrated on solid features and no fixed data, but according to Rogers that was not so good. The players could then no longer communicate when something appears.
You want to change that now. You want to keep an update cycle of 4 months, both for POE and POE2. This fits that when an update for POE appears, one for POE2 should appear 2 months later. If features are not finished until the next update, you just move them to the next.
In the future, you will see whether the fixed cycle can be held for both games. Problems can quickly arise when developing games, which is why updates have to be postponed. Path of Exile will soon get a new feature: Path of Exile will get a simple feature after 11 years that is a matter of course in other games
