Börje was immensely popular and popular like few other Swedish athletes. Now an old video from 2018 has been noticed again, where Salming is once again highly praised for his caring humanity.

Börje’s message

It is a commercial for Swedbank where Börje Samling is asked if he has “ever gone off and gone crazy?”. Then the legend speaks from the bottom of his heart and says words that everyone should listen to and take to heart.
– Well, I hate it. I hate those who have their nose up in the air. I hate people who have… Look at business people who get a briefcase in their fist and become CEO, then they think they are better than others. No one is better than anyone else. Everyone is good in their own way, me too, he says in the video, which you can see below.

Salming then continues to talk openly about this matter of the heart and how important it is to respect each other and be a good fellow human being.
– I know I’ve done something good in hockey, but for that I can’t go out into town and shout: “Here I am!”. But I was good at mine and proud of it, but I’m no better than you or anyone else. Everyone is good in their field and therefore you have to be damn careful. I have always respected everyone else for their choices and whatever they do. It is very important, he says in the video, see it below.

It is Börje Salming’s ALS foundation that posted the commercial on Instagram to remind us of these incredibly important words from the late hockey legend. And in the comments section, Börje’s message is highly praised by the followers.

“Very sad that such people as Börje are no longer with us. I think the world would look much better if everyone had the view of life that Börje had,” writes another.
“Imagine if more people took after Börje’s wise words that no one is better than anyone else, walk with your nose in the air & look like an ostrich with a long neck, some can barely say hello. Status, education, position of power or wealth should not matter, because all people are good, regardless of skin color or money in the bank!”, writes a third.
