British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that after Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, he offered Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his family to seek asylum in the UK, but Zelenskiy rejected this offer.
Not specifying exactly when he made the offer, Johnson said: “Vladimir was always clear, his duty is to the Ukrainian people, he will stay there, take care of them,” adding: “I must say I admire him.”
Johnson also described Zelenskiy as a “heroic war leader” in his way of “bringing his people together” and “moving the world”.
US President Joe Biden also offered to evacuate Zelenskiy from Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, after the Russian attacks began, and Zelenskiy replied to Biden, “I need ammunition, not escape.”
