In his speech at the swearing-in ceremony of the 11th Malopolska Regional Defense Brigade, Polish Minister of Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz gave information about the strengthening of the country’s eastern border within the scope of the “Eastern Shield” plan.
Stating that this will be the largest operation in history to strengthen security on Poland’s eastern border and that defense systems and modern equipment will be used, Kosiniak-Kamysz said, “We are establishing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) armies. Unmanned aerial vehicles are armed with air, land, sea and submarine units.” “It will be in every branch of the force,” he said.
‘BALTIC LINE’ FROM POLAND, LITHUANIA, LATVIA AND ESTONIA
Emphasizing that there have been no such defense systems on any border since 1945, Kosiniak-Kamysz said that they will form a “Baltic Line” together with Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia within the scope of strengthening the eastern border. Referring to the fight against hybrid attacks, Minister of Defense Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that they allocated 2 billion zlotys (approximately 500 million Euros) to combat sabotage actions against the Polish state, including cyber attacks.
