It is above all reference books and children’s books in other languages that have extinguishing powder on them. These would cost between one and two million to replace. Instead, they are sent away for remediation, something like P4 Gävleborg was first to report.
It has not been established who threw in the burning object that caused the fire. But there has been some trouble with young people, the staff at the library say.
Preschools will be without bookcases
A lot of work time has been spent sorting books to be transported to an external cleaning company. This means that you also don’t have time to send book boxes to the preschools. It is still unclear when operations can return to normal.
