The announced tree felling caused great outrage among local residents. In early December, local residents started a petition to prevent the trees from being cut down. Earlier, the Bomenstichting already filed a lawsuit against the zoning plan. “But that is of course a bit pointless if the trees have already been cut down,” says the Bomenstichting. “So to give an appeal against the zoning plan another chance, we say: you have to leave those trees for a while until the court has ruled on the zoning plan itself.”
