Former President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro ineligible to participate in the United States Donald Trump’s to the inauguration because he couldn’t get his passport back. Brazil’s Supreme Court on Thursday denied Bolsonaro’s request to get his passport back because the court believed that Bolsonaro might flee from justice.
Right-wing Bolsonaro is under criminal investigation for his alleged involvement in a coup attempt after the 2022 presidential election. He lost the election.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes wrote in the court’s decision that the reasons that led to the confiscation of the passport are still valid, and Bolsonaro cannot be allowed to leave the country. Bolsonaro said he would probably appeal the decision.
