Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro attended the first public event on Saturday since losing the presidential election nearly four weeks ago.
Bolsonaro’s did not speak during his appearance, which was at a military graduation ceremony. The event was held in Resende, which is located in the southern parts of the country, and is around 100 kilometers from Bolsonaro’s residence in the capital Brasília.
Apart from a brief statement in which he said he would respect the constitution, he has not explicitly conceded defeat or congratulated President-elect Lula da Silva, who will be sworn in on January 1.
