Boeing workers reject contract proposal, strike continues | News in brief

In the United States, the employees of the aircraft manufacturer Boeing in the Seattle area have rejected the company’s contract proposal. Due to the rejection, the strike that lasted almost six weeks continues.

Almost two-thirds of the members of the employee union voted to reject the contract, the union said.

Boeing’s latest offer included a 35 percent pay increase. However, the company did not agree to restore the pension arrangement that was deleted in the previous contract.

Around 33,000 company employees have been on strike since September.
