Panels designed for screens intended for gamers have embarked on a new mad race in recent years. A race for speed, with an increasingly fast refresh rate: 120, 240 and even 360 Hz for monitors and screens from giants in the sector such as Acer, Alienware, or Asus.
BOE, the Chinese tile manufacturing giant, seems to have reached a new milestone and set a new record. It indeed presented a 27-inch Full HD monitor with a refresh rate of 500 Hz, and a response time of only one millisecond. The monitor comes with 8-bit output and compatibility with an eight-way eDP (Display Port) signal.

Obviously, for now, this monitor is only a prototype. And he already asks many questions. The first of them is not the least. What machine, what graphics card will be able to produce 500 frames per second in today’s most demanding games? Such scores are rarely achieved, and when they are, they are generally games with unattractive graphics or designed not to slow down the display, because intended for e-sports, for example.
It is obviously in this area that this type of screen could bring a decisive advantage to players. An increase in fluidity that can make the difference between a head shot and a missed shot, between a win and a loss.
If it is not known when this refresh rate will hit the market, but BOE has just defined a new peak to reach, a new level of excellence to offer to the players, the most demanding and fortunate.
