Hanging in hooks attached to the skin is no longer allowed in Rebbelberga The school’s gymnasium.
The decision does not land positively with Jesper Botoft – who is passionate about “Body Suspension”.
– They say it’s an odd thing, but for us it’s perfectly normal, he says.
For over a decade, the Body Suspension group “Hooked on a feeling” has rented the gym in Rebbelberga school. Now the municipality has stopped – a decision based on ignorance, according to member Jesper Botoft.
– We don’t actually understand the decision. I would say that there is ignorance from the people. They say it’s an odd thing, but for us it is perfectly normal. This is our sport, he says.
Body suspension means that hooks are put in the skin and being raised in the air. Jesper describes it as a type of body hanging. He is now surprised that the municipality has banned further leasing of the gym.
– It’s simple. It’s no worse than doing a piercing, I don’t think it’s brutal. I think it’s brutal to play ice hockey, or floorball where you can get a club on your face.
“Never leaves anything bloody”
In particular, the municipality points to the risk of blood splashes and believes that the premises are not suitable for this type of activity.
– It is a business that may be more of the circus or in a variety but nothing we can allow in a gym where both children’s parties and sports lessons are held, says Peter Björkqvist, the municipality’s unit manager for swimming, sports and leisure to Helsingborgs Dagblad.
Peter Björkqvist also says that the business “has been going on under the radar” for many years. However, the members of the group who have completed several hygiene courses claim that they have been open from the start.
– There is not on my world map that you forget something that is bloody. We pick with everything. It is even cleaner in the gym when we leave than when we arrive, says Jesper Botoft.
He adds:
– We have been there for over ten years. We have been honest all the time from the beginning.
Are now looking for other premises
The group has used the room two to four times a year and is now looking for other options.
– We’ll see what happens. There are other premises, says Jesper Botoft.
They have previously participated in television programs such as “Talent”, “Outsiders” and “Ask Olle” where they have shown their passion.
