Body cut at the Buttes-Chaumont: the victim identified?

Body cut at the Buttes Chaumont the victim identified

A piece of human body was discovered this Monday, February 13, 2023 at Buttes-Chaumont, in Paris. What we know.

[Mise à jour le 13 février à 19h55] An investigation for assassination was opened this Monday, February 13, 2023 after the discovery, in the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris, of human remains in a garbage bag. The fatal find was made around 2:30 p.m. by site maintenance workers, in a “grove”, specifies The Parisian. In detail, the daily newspaper of the capital indicates that the place of discovery would be located south of the park, on the rue Botzaris side, not far from rue Fessard. Quickly, the authorities were notified and the park closed to the public. It should also remain so tomorrow, in order to “allow the continuation of research with the dog brigade”, warned Monday evening the PS mayor of the 19th arrondissement of Paris, François Dagnaud.

For their part, the first observations made on the spot enabled the criminal brigade of the judicial police to identify “part of a woman’s body”. It seems to be the trunk of it, going from the top of the chest to the knees, indicated The Parisian Monday evening. Notably, the body is “still dressed, as if surrounded by jeans”, confides a source to the daily newspaper, adding that, “visibly, the body was cut dressed”. If a search has already been organized on Monday, with the aim of finding possible remains elsewhere in the Buttes-Chaumont park, shortly before 7:30 p.m., surveys had yielded nothing.

At this stage, we do not know if it is a new victim of femicide, a prostitute or a completely different profile. The victim has not yet been identified and no lead seems privileged for the moment. Ihe mystery therefore remains unsolved as to what could have led to such an atrocity. In addition, “no element allows for the time being to date the death”, indicated the parquet floor of Paris. But a source close to the investigation confided to the Parisian that “the corpse was not in a state of putrefaction, which seems to attest to a recent death”. An autopsy is due to take place very soon to find out more. Similarly, the investigators will try to go back to the person or persons who deposited the bag by going through all the CCTV images of the city of Paris taken in the vicinity of the park. The work promises to be colossal.
