BMW has good news for those who are still undecided and worried about the high prices of new electric SUVs. New BMW iX1 eDrive20, with a less powerful drivetrain and, most importantly, at a lower price. It would not be right to call this model an SUV, it would be more accurate to call it a Crossover SUV. (Many are touting it as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). This car promises not only an eco-friendly ride, but a premium one as well.
This car has a price tag of 47,900 Euros. So what do you get for that price? Full charge according to WLTP standard Between 430 km and 475 km an electric range that will take you. If you ask me, I’d say pretty good levels. There is a single electric motor powering the front wheels with a maximum output of 150 kW (204 horsepower). This power is enough to get you from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds. In most life situations this speed is sufficient. Of course, you will also have a price advantage, as it corresponds to 10% due to the SCT in our country.
The battery is on the smaller side of things, with a usable energy content of 64.7 kWh. Fortunately, when life gets hectic, the tool offers multiple charging options. The standard AC charge will turn your battery from empty to full in 6.5 hours with 11 kW. If you’re a little more impatient, opt for optional 22 kW three-phase AC charging and you can cut that down to just 3 hours and 45 minutes. With its 130 kW fast charging option, it can boost your battery from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes.
Step inside the new entry-level iX1 and you’ll be greeted with the latest BMW Operating System 9. “QuickSelect” Meets the featured BMW iDrive. These standard features are designed for optimum user experience. Of course, BMW has also introduced a subscription model with the BMW Digital Premium offer. This offer increases the comfort and luxury of the vehicle by providing access to a range of digital services. At the heart of this system is the Curved Display, consisting of a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display. For some perspective, the iX1 eDrive20 is the sibling of the all-wheel drive iX1 xDrive30. The latter has two electric motors powered by the same 64.7 kWh battery. However, with a total power output of 313 horsepower, it enables it to reach 100 km / h in just 5.3 seconds.
In an era of increasing digital transformation and environmental concerns, the launch of the BMW iX1 eDrive20 seems like a calculated move. BMW’s expansion of its product range in the premium compact segment marks an attempt to make emission-free driving locally accessible to a wider audience. Although the price will exceed the limit of 50,000 Euros when some optional equipment is added, this price cannot be said to be cheap and reasonable for this vehicle.
