Definitely, BMW had well prepared its CES. The German manufacturer had already illustrated with its iX Flow electric SUV, capable of changing color, it returns with a second announcement: a Home Cinema system to be integrated into its vehicles. Baptized Theater Screen, technology transforms the backseat of a car into a small, high-end projection room.
Forget the little LCD screens leaning against the headrest, which have no other purpose than to distract children on the way to vacation. The screen offered by BMW is more intended for parents and more particularly for those who can afford it. And for good reason, with a diagonal of 31 inches in 8K in 32: 9 format, the bill should be steep.
Amazon Fire TV and 5G
BMW is not the first manufacturer to have installed a screen in the passenger compartment. A few months ago, another concept, that of VW, ID. Life also offered a solution for viewing its content in the car.
On the other hand, from a technical point of view, no proposal equals that of the Munich-based firm. In addition to the mind-boggling features of the display, BMW has endowed its Theater Screen 5G connectivity and an Amazon Fire TV key, in order to extend the streaming possibilities of its users.
As for viewing conditions, they were also studied. To avoid unwanted reflections, a function allows the sun visors on the side windows to be lowered automatically, as well as at the rear.

For now, this is only a concept intended to show that some avenues for in-vehicle entertainment have not yet been explored, but it is possible that the German manufacturer will one day offer this option to its catalog.
The biggest obstacle to a possible commercialization seems administrative. Indeed, it seems difficult to envisage an approval for such equipment insofar as it considerably modifies the safety on board. On the other hand, in the context of an autonomous car of level 3 or 4, this solution could be agreed.
