BMW, which has started to carry the long-lasting R&D process to the final result, has started production at its facilities in Munich, although in limited quantities.
Hydrogen fuel technology, which is mainly on the agenda through Far East-based manufacturers, is not without names from Europe. BMW, which has been carrying out important work for a long time, including the R&D process, is now ready to reflect the final result on the asphalt. The production phase has started for the infrastructure of this technology, which we will start seeing on the streets over the “BMW iX5 Hydrogen”, which started in road tests last year. Announcing that it has completed the work on the engine and battery combination, the brand will bring the first versions to carry this infrastructure to the streets in the last quarter of this year.
Hydrogen-fueled BMW X5 will be produced in limited quantities in the first phase
There is significant potential in hydrogen systems as it blends electric power, which is at the center of the future transportation world, with the familiar fueling experience. The BMW front is also preparing to test the transfer of the process to the real world in the user experience with the iX5 Hydrogen. According to the information from the brand, only 100 of the model will be produced for now. It is aimed to obtain important data for the usability of this infrastructure, which will be given to certain people in real-world dynamics.

Toyota also has a lot of support in the final infrastructure elements of the car to be carried into production. Having established a joint table with the Japanese manufacturer on the development and supply of fuel cells since 2013, BMW combines this system with the latest generation eDrive electric technology. A diagram in which two fuel tanks are located in the hydrogen cell infrastructure, which will be produced in Munich, awaits us. With all its parts coming together, we will see the iX5 Hydrogen on the streets as an SUV with a total power of 374 horsepower. On the range side, we can say that we need confirmation for now. The system, which successfully passed the endurance tests in extreme conditions last winter, is expected to enable a range of 500-600 kilometers. As the iX5 Hydrogen will hit the streets as part of the pilot program, it will not be officially available for sale. BMW will send samples of the car to different regions such as China, Japan, Europe, the United States and South Korea, making it available for daily use.
