Bloomberg: The Czech-led large project for ammunition for Ukraine is producing results – the allies may have collected almost all of the billion pot | Foreign countries

The Czech Republic found nearly a million artillery shells on

In February, the Czech Republic announced that it had found around 800,000 munitions in the world, which could be delivered to Ukraine within weeks if the money is found.

Ukraine’s allies have been able to collect almost the entire amount needed to buy about 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine from the world, says Czech government source Economic News Agency For Bloomberg.

The ammunition and fundraising project was launched by the president of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel in February at the Munich Security Conference. He said that the Czech Republic had found around 800,000 ammunition in the world, which could be delivered to Ukraine within weeks if the money is found. The Czech Republic did not say where the ammunition would be purchased.

Economic magazine the Financial Times said two weeks ago that the amount needed for ammunition is almost 1.4 billion euros.

Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Denmark, Canada and France have publicly committed to the initiative.

Funding promises from individual countries have been needed for the procurement of ammunition, as the EU has not reached an agreement on receiving funding from the fund established by the Union for aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine has a dire shortage of ammunition due to EU supply difficulties and the stalling of the US aid package.

Ukraine is estimated to need at least 200,000 artillery rounds per month to successfully continue its fight against Russia. It is estimated that the Russian forces use 3-5 times more ammunition on average every day than the Ukrainian forces can fire. Due to the shortage of ammunition, the Ukrainian troops have had to regulate their artillery fire.

Ukraine has estimated that it needs about 2.5 million rounds of ammunition this year.
