The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia announced that successive attacks were carried out by unidentified people in the cities of Makhachkala and Derbent. President of the Dagestan Autonomous Republic of Russia, Sergey Melikov, stated that the number of police officers who lost their lives in the armed attack in the city of Makhachkala exceeded 15.
Melikov made statements on his Telegram channel regarding the attacks in which a police station, a synagogue and two churches were targeted in the cities of Makhachkala and Derbent.

Noting that this was a “terrorist attack”, Melikov said, “We know who is behind this and what the organizers of these attacks are aiming for. The war has come to our home.” said.
AT LEAST 15 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Melikov stated that the Dagestan police resisted those who organized the attacks and said, “More than 15 people lost their lives in this unprecedented terrorist attack. They were protecting the peace and tranquility in Dagestan in their hands. Among the dead were several civilians, including a priest.” he said.
Stating that the active phase of the anti-terrorism operation in the cities of Makhachkala and Derbent has been completed, Melikov said, “6 militants who organized the attacks were neutralized. Necessary work will be carried out to detect all the tricks and terrorist cells prepared by foreign forces. The situation is under control by the state institutions.” said.
In the statement made by the Russian Investigative Committee, it was stated that the attacks were considered as terrorist acts and an investigation was launched into the incident.
In the images shared on social media, it was seen that a fire broke out in the synagogue in Derbent. It was stated that the fire that broke out as a result of the attack in the synagogue in Derbent was also extinguished.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that 11 people, including the 4 terrorists who carried out the attack, were captured. The Russian Ministry of Emergencies announced that the work in the hall was terminated.
As a result of the terrible attack, 143 people lost their lives.
