A new report expects some form of blood pressure monitoring feature to be added to the Apple Watch Series 10, but this claim has an important caveat. Apple has been working on what many call the holy grails of non-invasive blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring for years. Adding these features will help tackle the two most common medical conditions that require frequent monitoring.
Two features of Apple Watch Series 10 have been revealed
All signs point to the new Apple Watch getting a blood pressure monitor this fall, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in his latest report. But the first iteration is unlikely to give accurate readings. Gurman believes the next new Apple Watch, potentially called Apple Watch X for its 10th version, will include a new hardware sensor that can detect trends in blood pressure. However, this first iteration will likely only alert users to an upward trend in blood pressure rather than offering precise readings.
This feature is not available on previous models of Apple Watch because it requires a new sensor. Another rumored development is that sleep apnea monitoring will be built-in. In numerous reports by Bloomberg dating back to late 2023, claims were made that the 2024 Apple Watch would include a blood pressure monitoring feature. Gurman’s latest report doesn’t offer any real extra details about his abilities beyond his fall submission.
