After the overthrow of the Baath regime, mass graves and corpses continue to be found in Syria. The remains of bodies thought to belong to more than 20 people, including children, were found in a warehouse in the Seyyide Zeynep area of Damascus.
A MASS GRAVE WAS FOUND FROM THE DRUG STORE
Civil Defense teams arrived at the scene and started an investigation.
Civil Defense Board Member Ammar Selmo, in his statement to AA correspondent, said that they started an investigation in the medicine warehouse in the Seyyide Zeynep region.
Selmo said, “This place is considered a drug warehouse, but we found a cold storage inside. We saw that the warehouse turned into an area where rotting corpses and skeletons were stored. Our teams are trying to document the bodies. We are trying to collect the skeletons and determine the number of victims.” he said.
Stating that DNA tests will be performed on the corpses later, Selmo said, “This is the Seyyide Zeynep region. Before the regime collapsed, this region was the headquarters of the Iranian militia. Imagine a militia force occupies a place and keeps the corpses in storage. We do not know what they did to these corpses. We do not know where they were arrested, how they were killed. .” he said.
