Blizzard’s boss opens the door to the second movie to Warcraft or a WoW series like Arcane

Blizzard has had a new boss for a year: Johanna Faries actually comes from Call of Duty. In a new interview, she now opens the door into another movie or a Netflix series about Blizzard’s brands like World of Warcraft. Fans have been lurking on a 2nd movie for a long time after Warcraft: The beginning in 2016 made you want more.

This is the interview of the Blizzard boss: Johanna Faries spoke to a representative of the website WindowsCentral. The interview was released on March 11th.

She couldn’t get any out of it there. The main message she wanted to send was obvious: everything is possible – everything is changing. The market changes quickly and Blizzard always has to adapt and always learn again. The teams are flexible and you are apparently ready to break with things that were previously considered irrefutable rules.

The new motto is, you want to surprise players, to be agile, take risks, sometimes shoot something lively from the hip.

According to Faries, the decision is to bring Housing to the MMORPG World of Warcraft after 20 years, a decision that moved from a large company meeting and came from people who are not necessarily part of the WoW team.

Such “risky, unexpected” movements would create a good vibe around the games.

Blizzard wants to surprise players

What does she say about Blizzard’s future plans? In the interview, Faries is asked about Blizzard’s future plans.

She replies:

We only met as a whole company yesterday and talked about some of our additional future bets. We are in a phase of the hyper learning and hyper-agility, just at the right time to throw a few balls. We surprise the players, revive them and renew them – but not only for their own sake.

This apparently triggers the question from the interviewer whether the Boss of Blizzard could also imagine bringing back Starcraft or Heroes of the Storm. These are the big “dead” IPs of Blizzard.

But she didn’t want to get involved in such a conversation: she had nothing to announce today, says Faries.

Faries emphasizes: We are Blizzard Entertainment – not Blizzard Games

This door opened the boss of Blizzard: Instead, she opened the door to a 2nd Warcraft film or a series for Netflix. When asked about things like the Mario film by Nintendo, Faries said:

The short answer is that we are considering everything, and I mean it very consciously – and I can’t tell anything specific today – but we only spoke yesterday that we have a strong, collective conviction that we are Blizzard Entertainment and not just Blizzard Games or Blizzard Gaming.

Our universes, our iconic IPs can develop in many interesting, dynamic directions. We have to be careful, responsible administrator of this franchises, right? Not everything will fit and the execution is absolutely important. We think about what we can do [,…] So that Blizzard can continue to be a lighthouse for this type of … magic and joy.

Especially the emphasis on “Blizzard Entertainment-not Games” makes the door far open the door like a 2nd Warcraft film, which many fans would certainly want. Blizzard has always been known for his strong visual language and for his great cinematics.

In fact, the Netflix series Arcane did a lot for the surrounding area at League of Legends-The Witcher was also able to achieve great success on Netflix and strengthened the IP. Such a film was probably not the order of the day under the last boss of Activision Blizzard, but Bobby Kotick is now gone: Warcraft film: Ex-boss of Blizzard found that was always a “terrible idea”
