Blizzard wants to improve one of the most confusing new systems in WoW Dragonflight: “It’s not perfect”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The crafting orders are a new feature of WoW: Dragonflight. In theory, they should enable players to find a craftsman who can produce the desired item more quickly and easily. In practice, this works quite well, but there are also weaknesses.

What are crafting orders? Crafting Orders are a new feature introduced in WoW with Dragonflight.

If you wanted to have a specific item that could be produced by one of the professions, you had to search for a crafter in the trade chat. This could sometimes take quite a long time and therefore often caused frustration in the community.

It got even more complicated if you wanted an item that would become soulbound during crafting. Then you had no choice but to learn the relevant profession yourself. That always required a lot of time and gold.

The new system should make jobs interesting again in the long term and strengthen social aspects. If you don’t have a profession yet, but want to try one, then take a look at this guide: Skilling professions in WoW Dragonflight – This is how it works faster

How do crafting orders work? If you want to have a specific item crafted, you can place a corresponding crafting order in Valdrakken. Even bind-on-pickup items can be traded this way.

You can list the crafting orders at the crafting market in Valdrakken. If you talk to the NPCs, a window similar to the auction house will open. Here you can select an item and place an order for it.

Depending on the order, you then have to provide the required materials and decide how high the commission should be. You will then receive the finished item in the mail. If there is no one who can or wants to fulfill your order, you will get your materials and the commission back.

System has weaknesses – developers want to improve

What did the developers say? In a blue post, Blizzard first commented on the players’ criticism of the new system. They state that the system is far from perfect. That’s why they closely follow the community’s thoughts and internally discuss different ways to improve it.

However, since crafting orders are a brand new feature, the developers want to see how the situation develops before intervening. They are convinced that the craft orders do justice to their core task. They allow crafters to craft valuable gear and even soulbound items for all aspects of the game.

WoW Dragonflight has had a new profession system for 5 weeks, but one thing is bothering the players enormously

This would greatly increase the value and utility of professions while also facilitating many of the mechanics associated with them. This reduces waiting times and avoids frustrating moments.

How do the developers want to improve the system? One of the biggest issues developers are seeing right now is the availability of public crafting orders. They are sold out quickly because they can be done quite quickly for experienced craftsmen. Therefore, the developers are considering how to create more orders.

In addition, Blizzard has identified two issues that they intend to fix in the future:

  • Clients and craftsmen should find each other more easily. Especially when it comes to high-tier gear, communication still takes place primarily through trade chat. While developers want to embrace and encourage the social component of this interaction, they are also looking for a more effective way to bring trading partners together more quickly.
  • Crafters who don’t yet have the best recipes and highest skills should be able to benefit more from crafting jobs. The developers like the idea that crafters of any skill level can improve their skills this way and earn some gold coins at the same time.

What are the players saying? Players hope that crafting orders will become more intuitive. It is not always clear which reagents are required for a specific item. They also worry about smaller servers where some recipes are difficult or impossible to access.

The community therefore wishes that crafting orders can also be carried out across factions. This coincides with the general trend of breaking down the boundaries between factions. Blizzard wants to bring common guilds for Horde and Alliance in WoW, but the new statement sounds vague

Much of the community appreciates Blizzard’s open communication. In the past, that wasn’t always the case.

Now it’s your turn! Have you already issued or completed crafting orders yourself? Do you like the system? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? Or is it all way too complicated? Leave us a comment and share your thoughts with the community!
