Blizzard wants to bring common guilds for Horde and Alliance in WoW, but the new statement sounds vague

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

World of Warcraft has been toying with letting the Horde and Alliance experience Azeroth together for a few months now. But one important feature is still missing: cross-faction guilds. They should come for sure, the boss said. A new statement sounds more cautious.

What is this feature?

This is what Blizzard says now: Speaking to PCGamesN, production director Patrick Dawson says cross-faction guilds are “something we’re thinking about.”

That’s a choice of words that developers often use when they’re not quite sure what to do. This happens especially when features have not yet been defined or will only appear in the distant future.

On reddit, the sentence drew circles and confused the players. Because it was actually already certain: Guilds for Alliance and Horde are sure to come. Only the “when” was still open. Now it sounds different.

In our special you will find all information about Dragonflight. The most important features are presented again in the trailer:

WoW shows the most important features of Dragonflight in the gameplay trailer, fans praise: “Finally hype again”

“It’s not a question of if, but when they will come”

In several interviews prior to the release of Dragonflight, game director Ion Hazzicostas (title picture, right) spoke about cross-faction guilds, for example with the popular statistics website raider.io. There it says:

On the further way, if – I won’t even say “if” – if cross-faction guilds become a thing (because it’s something we want to do), then there are still some difficulties that we need to overcome.

In an interview with the player Maximum from the professional guild Limit, Hazzikostas then explains that there are still technical limitations in the way at the moment (via YouTube).

He therefore did not want to set a specific time period because “it could take years”, but the goal is to publish the feature during Dragonflight.

Patrick Dawson’s new statement is now causing confusion, as many players still have Hazzikostas’ words in mind, who has already promised the feature. Cross-faction guilds are important, for example, to improve raiding, create more opportunities for interaction and break up the Hall of Fame system, for example.

What will really happen now, only time will tell. Cross-faction play isn’t fully developed at the moment, but work appears to be aimed at softening the faction system. Dragonflight is already laying the foundation for the future in many respects:
