Blizzard nerfs WoW’s new Mega Dungeon 3 times before most of you have even seen it

Patch 10.1.5 for World of Warcraft is coming soon. There you can visit the new mega-dungeon “Dawn of the Eternal”. The balancing is apparently in full swing, because within a few days Blizzard first knocked out buffs, then hard nerfs.

What is this dungeon?

  • Dawn of the Eternal is a mega dungeon, something like an intermediate stage between a dungeon and a raid. The dungeon is intended for 5 players.
  • You face 8 bosses in the Dawn of the Eternal and help the Bronze Dragonflight. That’s what the next update is about.
  • The dungeon will be released with Patch 10.1.5 on Wednesday July 12th.
  • Why the nerfs? At the moment the new patch on the PTR is being tested by many players. Since the Mega Dungeon was playable, there have been several adjustments to it. Blizzard first knocked out bad buffs here, which made the dungeon more of a kind of mini-raid, as reported by wowhead.

Apparently that’s what the dungeon is supposed to be, because there’s even a “Cutting Edge” achievement for defeating all bosses before the next update. Apparently Blizzard overdid it a bit.

With a July 6 hotfix there were big nerfs for 2 of the bosses. Many abilities in the “Galakrond’s Fall” fight, for example, now do 50% less damage than in the previous version, which was already a nerf (via wowhead).

This is the 3rd time in total that Blizzard has nerfed the dungeon and it’s relatively hard each time. Dawn of the Eternal will only be available on Mythic difficulty at launch. Starting with the following patch 10.1.7, Heroic Difficulty and Mythic+ will be added.

Patch 10.1.5 brings new dungeon, quests and a new specialization

In addition to the new dungeon, patch 10.1.5 brings other new content and features. For example, Warlocks will be made available to all races (except Dracthyr). Also coming:

  • a new fame faction
  • Time streams as a new activity
  • a rework for magicians
  • In addition, the new Amplifier specialization appears for Rufer, the first “support” ever in the game, as Blizzard explains. The specialization should be based on improving allies instead of dealing damage yourself. You can find more about the patch in the overview:

The new update brings with it a whole range of new quests, which, however, have already been the subject of controversy in advance. For one of them, for example, a well-known agent of the alliance should be murdered, who is particularly dear to rogue players.

Another called for torturing the dragon mother Alexstrasza. Both are things that didn’t go down too well with the community and caused outrage. So much so that Blizzard has planned changes here:
