Blizzard makes an encouraging statement that it will be worth farming the best and very rare items in 2024

Recently, the drop rate on Uber Uniques in Diablo 4 was increased. Some players were happy about this, while others continued to complain. However, Blizzard is now making a statement that gives hope for future seasons in 2024.

  • Uber Uniques are special items that are even more powerful than regular legendary or unique items. They can make almost any build stronger and are an integral part of many of the best builds in Season 2.
  • With Season 2, Blizzard introduced the option to specifically farm Uber Uniques from the new Uber boss Duriel. However, you have to summon it, for which you need certain materials.
  • Blizzard doubled the chance of getting Uber Uniques, but for a limited time.
  • The doubled chance was received positively by some players in Diablo 4. However, there are those who demand further adjustments. In particular, the materials for Duriel and the double Uber Uniques need to be adjusted. Blizzard makes an encouraging statement.

Some players say that “bad luck protection” makes sense

What is the problem? On December 20th, Community Manager Adam Fletcher announced on X (formerly Twitter) about the double chance of Uber Uniques from Duriel. The user “AJ” responded to this on December 23rd:

“Next season we need protection from getting the same Ubers, or greater accessibility to the mats, otherwise half of the community will disappear, I’m sure.” (Source: X)

What kind of statement is that? Adam Flechter responded to the user’s comment just a few minutes later on X:

I’ve heard this many times and know it’s something the team is considering going forward.

What do other players say about this? “AJ”’s comment will be taken up in the English-language Blizzard forums on December 24th. The players there are divided. The user “Revive”, who started the thread, writes:

I mean, WoW had bad luck protection for a long time. If you kill a boss and it doesn’t drop a Legendary, the system will count that as an attempt and internally your luck at getting a Legendary will be increased by X% the next time you kill a boss. […]

I think this is a good system. It looks like the D4 team is actively looking for inspiration from other Blizzard teams to improve the game. I think this is very necessary at the moment. Even after doubling the drop rate for Christmas, it is still very low for a solo player who needs to farm all the mats for just a few tries at Duriel.

Making summoning materials more accessible and having bad luck protection like in WOW will certainly improve the game for a large portion of the player base.

To which “Lazyloaf” replies: “Oh God, let’s hope they don’t do that. It’s not WoW and we don’t need a ‘safety net’ for something that already has high drop rates.” And “Pereg” writes: “What’s the point of hunting for the items if they’re guaranteed at a certain point?”

The topic is also being taken up on Reddit. “JishoJuggler” wrote there on December 19th that the boss runs feel bad, especially for solo players. With a group you have a higher chance of getting Uber Uniques because you share the materials for summoning.

All in all, the community seems to be divided on whether protection against losing streaks when farming Uber Uniques would be useful, or whether it is just right as is. It remains to be seen what adjustments Blizzard will make in the future.

Uber Uniques are considered the ultimate powerful item in Diablo 4, but one player has found another weapon that boosts one of the best builds:
