Blizzard is testing the new season in Diablo 4, letting you see everything on day 1 with Patch 2.1

The PTR for Season 7 in Diablo 4 starts in December, and you can test everything from day 1. For the first time, you can also try out seasonal content there. We summarize the content from the patch notes for PTR patch 2.1.

When does the PTR start? According to Blizzard, the PTR (public test realm) for Season 7 is scheduled to start on December 3, 2024. All players on Battle.net have until December 10th to check out the new content. For the first time, the seasonal features from the season will also be integrated. Until now, players only saw these when the new season started.

Blizzard will make all the content that you can view on the public test server available from day 1. Things were different on the PTR for Season 6 – individual content only came into Diablo 4 during the test week and the test period was therefore shorter.

Update November 27th: Blizzard released the patch notes for Patch 2.1 for the PTR today. We’ll include the detailed English patch notes on the second page of the article. As soon as they are available in German, we will adapt the article again. A little warning: the patch notes are very extensive.

The PTR is used to let the community test new content and collect feedback. On the PTR for Season 6, players were able to test, among other things, the new difficulty levels – which were then revised.

You can test this on the PTR: Season 7 brings new features to the base game, but also seasonal content. You receive the content and the boost for your player character from the “PTR Boost NPC”. According to Blizzard, the following content will be available on the PTR from day 1:

  • Any base content boosts:
  • Your choice of level 50 or level 60 for your player character
  • A fully revealed map (including waypoints and bases)
  • Class mechanics
  • All difficulty levels
  • Upgraded healing potion
  • All aspects in the Code of Power and leveled Paragon Glyphs
  • Legendaries for different classes and builds, all uniques
  • All hardening recipes and the ability to use Completion
  • Mats, gold and donations
  • All witch powers, which are basically the mechanics in Season 7. The witch powers are reminiscent of the witch doctor from Diablo 3 in terms of individual skills. With the Piranhado skill you summon a “Piranhado” that attracts enemies to you and causes damage. And Vengeful Spirit spawns a minion that draws damage and deals shadow damage.
  • New seasonal enemies, the “Headrotten”. There are specific bounty tasks that relate to the enemies, but also boss variants of them. If you kill the bosses, you will receive their head, which you can exchange for the seasonal occult gems.
  • The occult gems are seasonal, socketable items that you get from the “Whispering Tree” – the boost NPC equips you with them on the PTR. The gemstones give you additional affixes and supplement the powers of witchcraft. Each occult gem gives you 160 armor and 8% resistance to all types of damage.
  • To this end, changes are being made to the “Whispering Tree”, which should also be available on the PTR. The city is being revamped, traders are being added, and the waypoint is being moved so players can get to the tree quicker. There will also be “ravens of the tree” on the map where you can give your gifts so that you don’t always have to go to the tree. On top of that, there will be new boxes with “bequeathed” items, some of which drop less frequently in Season 6 than the super-rare Mythic Uniques.
  • 8 new Uniques and 3 new Runes (the latter if you own Vessel of Hatred).
  • On the PTR you have the opportunity to take a look at the new armory. The function already existed in Diablo 3 and players have been demanding it in Diablo 4 since the release. The feature allows you to quickly switch between different builds, which is particularly practical in the endgame. In October 2024 it was said that the feature was in development. In the last “Campfire Chat” livestream, the developers announced that the armory is actually coming to Diablo 4 in Season 7.
